900 People Named Their One in a Single Sunday

Shelby Christian Church, Shelbyville, Kentucky

On August 30, 2026, nine hundred adults at Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky walked to the front and dropped a token into a sheep.

That needs some explaining.

The sheep is a large cutout with a plexiglass front, and the tokens are small discs engraved with “For the One” and Luke 15:4. Each person wrote the initials of someone in their life who does not yet know Jesus on the back of their token and dropped it in. As the tokens filled up, you could watch it happen in real time.

Jason Haggard, Shelby Christian’s Missions and Outreach Pastor, stood off to the side and watched. “I became emotional,” he said. “What made the day meaningful wasn’t the event itself. It was watching our church family take ownership of the mission and identify someone they want to pray for, invest in, and invite toward Jesus.”

Longtime members dropped tokens alongside first-time guests. Some folks did it on their very first Sunday at Shelby Christian.

That evening, the high school ministry carried the sheep over to the student auditorium for their own worship experience. The students had their own commitment moment with their Ones.

Shelby Christian is one of the first churches to implement the One More Initiative. Each of those tokens represents a real person. Every name has a story, and every story matters to God. Nine hundred people in one church identified theirs by name and committed to praying for them, investing in them, and inviting them toward Jesus.
